2nd Street Soundcheck

Austin is a really rad city. We already knew that, but the 2nd Street Soundcheck event we went to on Saturday really proved it. Some of my favorite musical sounds come from a band called Seryn, from Denton, TX. I’ve never had the chance to see them live, and considering they were dubbed “Best Performance” at SXSW this year by Paste Magazine, I was beyond stoked to finally get the chance to see them (and for FREE, too).

The event in the 2nd Street District downtown wasn’t only a draw for us because of Seryn and the other sweet sounds of bands like Rogue Wave and Polica, it was also sponsored and attended by some awesome local non profits and really rad globally-conscious companies, like the ONE Campaign, Comfort the Children International, the Whole Foods Whole Planet Foundation, Big Ass Canvas and Raven and Lily

We tasted local food, heard some incredible music and made connections with some of the non profits and companies in attendance.  It was the start of some beautiful relationships with local Austin organizations and we’re really excited for what’s in store for Invisible Children-Austin.

I hope your weekend was as good as ours was. Enjoy a beautiful and productive week here in the Live Music Capital of the World!
