I.C.ATX Summer Series
Living in the live music capital of the world, Alex and I have been wanting to put together a show ever since we arrived in ATX in March. We figured summer would be the perfect time to get together some rad bands and hopefully have a series of shows around Austin.
Soooo, to that end, we are really excited to announce the first show of our summer series on Monday, June 18th at Beale Street Tavern in downtown Austin. The lineup includes Nashville-based indie folk band Neulore and local Austinites Edison Chair and Waking Fable. Stay tuned for information on door times and cover charges in the next few days on our twitter (@Kony2012Austin) and our facebook (https://www.facebook.com/austin.streetteam.7) and don’t hesitate to throw questions and suggestions our way.
Now, some information about the bands who will be part of our first Invisible Children-ATX show:
Neulore (http://neulore.bandcamp.com/) was heralded by popular Nashville blog, Music City Unsigned, as the “Band To Watch” and their sound was described by valslist.com as “much like the Fleet Foxes or Horse Feathers with its ambient folk melodies & harmonies. They have fashioned sound and spirit, wood and string, current and wire to bring lyric to life. The result is a collection of songs that have become as beautiful as the story they seek to share. The timeless story, told in modern tones.”. We are stoked to have this quintet partnering with us on our inaugural summer series show.
Edison Chair joined forces in 2007 and quickly garnered attention from big time producers and major labels like Interscope Records. SXSW said that the Austin band “honors the style of timeless rock such as The Who and The Beatles, while making innovative strides in the wake of popular modern bands such as The Fratellis and Oasis.” Check out their stuff here http://www.reverbnation.com/edisonchair and come hear them live on the 18th.
Waking Fable is a newcomer to the Austin music scene, having just formed a few months ago. They describe themselves as an “acoustic soul quintet…with a saxophone”. Check ‘em out here https://www.facebook.com/wakingfable.
